Job summary

Metro Mining Limited, Brisbane-based ASX: MMI, operates the Bauxite Hills project, located 95km north of Weipa. This role ensures that maintenance work is efficiently planned, scheduled and executed to minimise downtime and optimise resources, with a 4/3 onsite and 5/2 offsite roster.

The Maintenance Planner develops plans, manages Pronto CMMS, generates work orders, and supports budgets and cost tracking to drive reliability improvements across the operation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years mining experience.
  • Minimum five years of maintenance planning experience.
  • Advanced experience with Pronto CMMS for maintenance planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in RCA and asset improvement.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and manage time.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Preventative Maintenance Schedules for the Fixed Plant and statutory checks.
  • Utilise Pronto CMMS to optimise predictive, preventative and on-condition maintenance actions.

  • Assist in budgets, reports and tracking of costs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members.
  • Maintain maintenance records and documentation.
  • Plan and oversee special maintenance projects.

Job description

Metro Mining Limited (ASX: MMI) is an Australian mining company based in Brisbane. Metro’s flagship project, the Bauxite Hills Operation, located 95km north of Weipa, is one of the largest independent projects within the internationally acclaimed Weipa Bauxite Region.

This role is responsible for ensuring that maintenance work is efficiently planned, scheduled, and executed to minimise downtime and optimise resources. The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Planner is to coordinate maintenance activities, improve equipment reliability, and ensure that maintenance tasks are completed on time.

This role's roster is 4/3 onsite and 5/2 offsite.

Key Responsibilities

Develop clear and accurate job plans and maintenance work procedures to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance requirements.

Develop, implement, and manage maintenance policies and procedures.

Produce a work schedule for the maintenance team that maximises utilisation, minimises unproductive time and supports achievement of the annual works program.

Develop Preventative Maintenance Schedules for the Fixed Plant inclusive of all necessary statutory checks.

Maximise efficiencies through using planned maintenance where it is more effective than alternatives.

Plan for and oversee all special maintenance projects.

Utilise Pronto data to optimise predictive, preventative and on-condition maintenance actions.

Ensure that all maintenance records, both manual and electronic, are correctly maintained in a timely and accurate basis to agreed standards.

Evaluate the Pronto CMMS and make necessary improvements.

Ensure the Pronto system is fully utilised and is constantly fed with the most accurate and up to date data available.

Generate work orders as required and close out all completed Work Orders in Pronto.

Maintain maintenance equipment inventory in Pronto.

Procure necessary maintenance supplies and equipment for planned jobs and assist Maintenance Supervisors with ordering of parts for breakdowns.

Assist in preparation of budgets, reports and tracking of costs (backlog reports, equipment costs planned vs actual completion, end of month reporting).

Assist with document management including manuals, drawings, and parts lists.

Develop draft plans and review outcomes at scheduled meetings.

Constantly work to improve processes.

Make suggestions for productivity improvements.

Communicate and collaborate with other team members.

Any other tasks as directed by your Supervisor.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have:

Minimum five (5) years mining experience.

Minimum five (5) years of maintenance planning experience.

Demonstrated advanced experience and knowledge in using Pronto CMMS for maintenance planning activities.

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make pragmatic decisions.

Experience in asset improvement and completing RCAs.

Proficiency in conducting failure analysis and in the use of root cause investigation techniques.

Ability to prioritise effectively and execute tasks in a busy environment.

Ability to work within a team to achieve outcomes.

Capable of working unsupervised and managing time effectively.

Possess a basic knowledge of operational functions including required skills and abilities for electrical and mechanical trades and knowledge of minor Boilermaker and welding skills.

Possess leadership and effective communication skills, showing a level of professional maturity.

Must display sound decision-making skills.

Ability to analyse a situation and come up with a cost-effective solution.

Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Computer proficiency

Physically fit and capable of performing the role.

Ability to obtain all certificates required to perform specific functions within the role.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Organised and able to meet deadlines.
