Job summary

Schulz Organic Dairy is seeking a practical Maintenance & Operations Technician to keep our farm, factory, fleet and facilities safe and reliable. You will work across the dairy manufacturing facility, robotic dairy, farm machinery, vehicles, café and property infrastructure.

Responsibilities include preventative and reactive maintenance, fault finding, coordinating contractors, and improving reliability and safety across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Broad practical capability with strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience maintaining machinery, vehicles, industrial or agricultural equipment.
• Practical fabrication and workshop repair skills.
• Ability to prioritise competing jobs and work across multiple sites.
• Safety, food safety and doing repairs properly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain pumps, motors, valves, pipework, pneumatic systems and general mechanical equipment.
• Support maintenance of robotic dairy and farm infrastructure.
• Service farm machinery, trucks, utes, forklifts and other mobile equipment.
• Maintain café equipment, buildings and utilities.
• Perform welding, fabrication and general workshop repairs as needed.
• Identify recurring problems and improve reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Coordinate contractors and update servicing schedules and spare parts.

Job description

Schulz Organic Dairy is looking for a practical, capable and adaptable Maintenance & Operations Technician to help keep our farm, factory, fleet and facilities operating safely and reliably.

This is not a narrow factory maintenance role. You will work across our dairy manufacturing facility, robotic dairy, farm machinery, vehicles, forklifts, café and wider property infrastructure. No two days are likely to look the same.

You might be troubleshooting a pump in the factory, carrying out preventative maintenance on the robotic dairy, repairing farm equipment, organising a vehicle service, fixing something at the café or coordinating a specialist contractor

What you'll be responsible for

• Preventative and reactive maintenance of dairy processing and packaging equipment.
• Pumps, motors, valves, pipework, pneumatic systems and general mechanical equipment.
• Supporting maintenance of the robotic dairy and associated farm infrastructure.
• Farm machinery, trucks, utes, forklifts and other mobile plant and vehicles.
• Café equipment, buildings, utilities and general facilities maintenance.
• Welding, fabrication and practical workshop repairs where appropriate.
• Fault finding and deciding whether work can be completed internally or requires a licensed or specialist trade.
• Coordinating contractors and following maintenance issues through to completion.Keeping servicing schedules, maintenance records and critical spare parts organised.
• Identifying recurring problems and making practical improvements to reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Supporting equipment installations, upgrades and other business projects.

What we're looking for

We are not looking for someone who claims to be every trade. We are looking for someone with broad practical capability, strong mechanical aptitude and the judgement to know what they can safely fix themselves, what needs specialist attention, and how to make sure the job gets completed properly.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills.
• Experience maintaining machinery, vehicles, industrial equipment or agricultural equipment.
• Good fabrication, workshop and general repair skills.
• A practical, organised approach and the ability to prioritise competing jobs.
• A willingness to move between factory, farm, café and fleet work as business priorities change.
• Good communication and the ability to work independently while supporting multiple teams.
• A strong focus on safety, food safety, quality and doing repairs properly.

Experience that would be highly regarded

mechanical fitting, agricultural machinery, automotive/heavy vehicle, industrial maintenance, food manufacturing, dairy processing, stainless fabrication, refrigeration, automation or electrical systems. Relevant trade qualifications are an advantage, but broad practical experience is equally important.
