Job summary

Uniting Yamba NSW is seeking a Maintenance Officer/Skilled Handyperson to care for residents' homes, assets and equipment, delivering timely planned and unplanned maintenance in a safe, homelike environment.

This full-time role (38 hours/week) offers a great hourly rate with super, NFP salary packaging, laundry allowance, no weekend work, and hybrid options supported by a not-for-profit workplace.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role is desirable.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Knowledge of building, workplace health and safety legislation.
• Trade background preferred but not essential.
• Ability to maintain buildings and equipment to comply with standards.
• Understanding of contractor obligations.
• Basic computer skills.
• Current NSW driver’s license.

About the opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Maintenance officer/skilled handyperson to ensure that all tasks are undertaken to support service delivery outcomes including the maintenance of the property and land-based assets, plant, and equipment.

Role responsibilities:

• To enable care and accommodation services to be provided in a safe, sustainable, and homelike environment through the timely undertaking of planned and unplanned maintenance
• Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and families, being empathetic andunderstanding of the needs of Uniting's aged residents.
• Ensure maintenance work undertaken is compliant with corporate standards and WHS.
• Undertake building/property maintenance tasks as necessary and in a timely manner. Such tasks may be routine or planned and/or reactive.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience in same or similar role highly desirable
• Good Communication & interpersonal skills
• Knowledge and understanding of legislation that relates to buildings, workplace health, and safety.
• Trade background preferred but not essential
• Demonstrated ability to maintain buildings and equipment to be compliant with legislation and/or corporate standards.
• Understanding of obligations of contractors.
• Good computer skills.
• Current NSW driver’s license.

• Demonstrated experience in a maintenance role preferably in an aged care /Retirement living setting
• Detailed knowledge of the application use of CMMS (Computerised maintenance management system) training can be provided
