Job summary

Encore Tissue in Australia is seeking an experienced Maintenance Leader to set up and manage the maintenance organisation for a large industrial plant. The role requires establishing work orders, planning jobs, forecasting, and scheduling daily activities to maximize uptime.

The incumbent will implement preventative maintenance, manage inventories and budgets, train crews, and drive continuous improvement to reduce unplanned downtime.

Qualifications

• 10+ years maintenance experience in industrial/process manufacturing.
• At least 5 years in a maintenance leadership role.
• Experience managing teams and coordinating internal/external resources.
• Understanding of CMMS and asset recordkeeping.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, conveyors, and electrical systems.

Job description

Set up a proper maintenance organisation

Establish and maintain work order system

Analyse and plan jobs

Make weekly forecasts

Prepare daily schedules

Set up manpower backlog control

Establish a preventative maintenance program

Process & Procedures

Manage end-to-end process for plant maintenance shutdowns

Ensure accurate and current recordkeeping of assets, preventative maintenance checks, work orders and reports

Implement continuous improvement system to create year-on-year savings in costs and ongoing reductions in unplanned downtime due to maintenance

Manage inventory of spare parts (including parts store with access 24x7), tools, and equipment

Consult regularly with both Tissue Mill and Converting to determine maintenance tasks necessary to improve productivity and eliminate equipment-related downtime

People

Manage internal and external resources to have maintenance tasks completed to schedule and budget

Role model senior leadership behaviours including supporting areas outside of maintenance

Ensure maintenance coverage to resolve promptly any mechanical or electrical breakdown 24x7

Oversee training and certification of maintenance team, ensuring statutory compliance and ongoing skill development to increase proficiency and expertise in relevant maintenance tasks

Safety

Provide leadership in safe work practices and foster a culture of safety awareness and improvement

Ensure all high-risk work is carried out in accordance with established safe work procedures and statutory requirements

Ensure any safety incidents are properly recorded, investigated, resolved, and updated in Encore Tissue’s safety incident register

Productivity – machine uptime including year on year improvement

Safety – actively promote safe work practices

Quality – Ongoing skill development of maintenance personnel.

Desired Background

Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience in an industrial/process manufacturing environment

• At Least 5 of those years in a maintenance leadership role

Understanding of computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)

Experience in managing teams

Experience in relevant machine types

• Hydraulics and pneumatics - Cylinders, valves, control systems, etc
