Job summary

SunPork Group is seeking three reliable and hands-on Trades Assistants to join the Maintenance team at Lapunyah Piggery, Queensland. This casual role involves 50 hours per week, with overtime possibilities and an experienced maintenance team to work with.

The ideal candidate is mechanically minded, enjoys hands-on work, and holds a current Australian Driver's Licence. You will support with equipment upkeep, plant maintenance and safety at the piggery.

Qualifications

• Experience as Trades Assistant or similar hands-on role.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
• Basic welding or fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of piggery feed systems, controllers and hardware.
• Maintenance and servicing of small motors, vehicles, pumps and mechanical equipment.
• Arc and MIG welding, fabrication and general repairs.
• Plumbing repairs and installations, including poly and EF welding where required.
• Disassembly, servicing and assembly of trash pumps and reticulation pumps.
• Installation, operation and troubleshooting of climate control systems.
• General building and construction maintenance, including basic concreting and repairs.
• Working safely at heights and in confined spaces where required.
• Maintaining accurate stock control and assisting with purchasing of maintenance parts and equipment.
• Keeping the workshop, tools and work areas clean, organised and professional.
• Supporting the wider Maintenance team to ensure the piggery's equipment, infrastructure and production systems remain safe, functional and operational.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking three reliable and hands-on Trades Assistants to join our Maintenance team at Lapunyah Piggery, Queensland.

This is a Casualposition working 50 hours per week, offering overtime and the opportunity to work alongside an experienced Maintenance team.

Roster:

• Monday to Thursday: 6:00am – 4:00pm
• Friday: 6:00am – 2:00pm
• 50 hours per week

Working alongside our experienced Maintenance team, you'll assist with the upkeep and maintenance of site buildings, equipment, machinery and infrastructure, helping to ensure the piggery operates safely and efficiently.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, is mechanically minded and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.

Key Responsibilities

• In addition to general maintenance duties, you will be responsible for assisting with:

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, Maintenance Assistant, Farm Hand, Labourer or similar hands-on role.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
• A strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Experience working with machinery or mechanical equipment.
• Basic welding or fabrication experience will be highly regarded.
• A strong work ethic and reliable approach to work.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• A current Australian Driver's Licence – essential.
• Reliable transport to and from the site.
• The ability to undertake physically demanding work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must:

• Hold a current Australian Driver's Licence and have reliable transport.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment Medical Assessment, including Drug & Alcohol screening.
• Be willing to work within a piggery environment and comply with all biosecurity and animal welfare requirements.
• Be physically capable of performing the requirements of the role.
• Be available to work the required Monday to Friday roster.
