Job summary

Quest Chermside seeks a Maintenance/Handyman to care for the hotel, guest rooms, and surrounding areas on a 20–25 hour per week schedule. You will help keep facilities safe, clean and functional, addressing issues before they affect guests.

Work with management, housekeeping and external contractors to complete repairs, perform painting and carpentry, and conduct regular inspections. A proactive, reliable approach and good communication are essential in our busy Brisbane hotel.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel, guest rooms and common areas
• Repair or replace minor fixtures, fittings, doors, locks, handles, furniture and other items
• Undertake basic painting, patching, carpentry and general handyman work
• Attend to maintenance requests promptly and keep management informed of outstanding issues
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems
• Inspect rooms following maintenance requests and complete repairs efficiently
• Respond promptly to issues involving lighting, taps, toilets, air conditioning, appliances, doors and other fixtures
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and identify and report hazards, defects and potential risks
• Complete regular checks of rooms, corridors, car parks, plant areas and other hotel facilities
• Maintain the presentation and functionality of outdoor areas, pathways, car parks and building surrounds

The Handyman / Maintenance Person is responsible for ensuring the hotel, guest rooms, common areas, facilities and surrounding grounds are maintained in a safe, clean, functional and presentable condition.
