Job summary

For Purpose Aged Care in Narangba is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance/Gardening Officer to care for the property's interior and exterior, ensuring comfort and wellbeing of residents. You will advise on repairs and perform tasks with a broad set of tools.

The role requires outdoor work 2–3 days weekly, a trade qualification and a current Queensland driver’s licence, plus strong communication.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance.
• Knowledge of Aged Care industry is desirable.
• OH&S and Fire/Evacuation knowledge.
• Ability to work outdoors 2–3 days per week.
• Ability to weld would be an advantage.

Job description

For Purpose Aged Care is looking for a Full-Time Maintenance/Gardening Officer to join our state-of-the-art aged care facility in Narangba.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Officer to maintain the interior and exterior of the building to a high standard, having regard for the comfort and wellbeing of residents and advising on replacement or repairs as required.

To be successful in this position you will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Experience in building maintenance
• Knowledge of Aged Care industry is desirable
• Thorough understanding of all legislative requirements pertaining to maintenance and repairs i.e. OH&S & Fire/Evacuation
• Enjoy working outdoors 2-3 days a week minimum
• Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks including use of tools and equipment
• Willingness to contribute to after-hours maintenance requirements from time to time
• Excellent communication skills and respect for residents and colleagues
• Previous experience working autonomously with limited direction
• Ability to weld would be an advantage
• Be able to make decisions about costs and priorities and documenting a full plan for work to be completed
• Contribute to the support of aged care residents by providing quality service as required, and with respect to dignity and privacy.

Essential:

• Trade Qualification e.g. B Grade Electrician & OHS Qualification is advantageous
• A current Queensland driver’s licence
• Reliable with a strong work ethic

The successful applicant will also need to provide:

• A current police check (within 12 months of the commencement date and it must be Aged Care/Vulnerable people specific)
• Have Australian Work Rights
