Job summary

APC Engineering is seeking a Maintenance Electrician for a 6-month casual assignment across Melbourne’s food and beverage sites. You will perform planned maintenance on electrical equipment and production lines, diagnose faults in PLC-based systems, and ensure compliance with GMP and safety rules.

A-Grade Victoria licence and relevant trade qualification are essential. You will collaborate with production, maintenance and engineering teams to minimize downtime and support safe, efficient

Qualifications

• Current A-Grade electrical licence in Victoria (mandatory).
• Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Systems Electrician) or equivalent.
• Industrial maintenance experience in food, beverage, dairy or FMCG manufacturing.
• Strong fault-finding skills in control circuits, motor control and industrial automation.
• Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs.
• Experience with VSDs, instrumentation and SCADA/HMI systems; Ignition experience is highly regarded.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends or on-call when needed.
• Valid driver’s licence and a current police check, or willingness to get one.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, production lines and automated systems
• Respond to breakdowns and diagnose electrical, control and automation faults quickly to minimise downtime
• Fault-find PLC-controlled equipment and make minor approved changes
• Maintain and repair motors, VSDs, instrumentation, conveyors, pumps and packaging machinery
• Test circuits, components and systems with the right diagnostic tools and equipment
• Record all work in the client’s CMMS and update drawings after any changes
• Follow food safety, hygiene and GMP requirements, including allergen and foreign-matter controls
• Follow all site health and safety rules, including isolation and LOTO procedures
• Work with production, maintenance and engineering teams to find root causes and stop faults from recurring

Maintenance Electrician (Casual, 6 Months with Potential Ongoing) | Food & Beverage | Melbourne

About the role

APC Engineering is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join our team on a casual basis for an initial 6-month period, with the potential for ongoing work after that. You’ll support our food and beverage manufacturing clients across Melbourne and surrounds, keeping production lines running safely and efficiently in fast-paced processing and packaging environments.

A current Victorian A-Grade electrical licence is mandatory for this role.

Key responsibilities

Carry out planned and preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, production lines and automated systems

Respond to breakdowns and diagnose electrical, control and automation faults quickly to minimise downtime

What we’re looking for

Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Systems Electrician) or equivalent

Industrial maintenance experience, ideally in food, beverage, dairy or FMCG manufacturing

Strong fault-finding skills in control circuits, motor control and industrial automation

Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs

Experience with VSDs, instrumentation and SCADA/HMI systems. Ignition experience is highly regarded
