Job summary

BlueCare in Thursday Island is seeking a Maintenance and Grounds Officer to join the facilities team. You will work on gardening, lawn care, and general maintenance to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for aged care residents and staff.

Permanent full-time role, Monday to Friday with driver’s license and NDIS screening as essential requirements. Salary packaging and employee discounts are available, along with generous leave provisions.

• NDIS Workers Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain is essential.
• Proficiency in IT systems.
• Experience in maintenance, building, plant, equipment, gardening or ability to acquire these skills.

Your part in the Statewide Facilities & Maintenance team

Operating at a state-wide level, our Facilities & Maintenance team supports the delivery of UnitingCare Queensland services through proactively managing and maintaining the extensive property portfolios in Southeast Queensland (SEQ), Rural and Regional Queensland (R&R) and Australian Regional and Remote Community Services (ARRCS).

Joining the team in the Maintenance and Grounds Officer role, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously and connect with colleagues, residents and contractors at a designated BlueCare local site whilst being supported by teams in the region and across the state.

A day in the role will see you balancing general gardening duties and lawn care, maintenance of plant and equipment, undertake minor property work and importantly, contribute to the safe and pleasing environment for our aged care residents, staff and visitors.

• Experience in the maintenance building, plant, equipment gardening or landscape or the ability to acquire these skills.

• Relevant Trade Qualifications or Certificate in Facilities, Building or Construction not mandatory but desirable
• Ability to manage work schedules and meeting deadlines
• Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies
