Job summary

ITT Blakers is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician to join our Gladstone workshop, with occasional field service work at customer sites. You'll service, repair and rebuild centrifugal pumps and rotating equipment, working in a supportive team of experienced tradespeople.

In this role you will read engineering drawings, perform precision alignments, hydrostatic testing and assemble pump gearboxes.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Fitter trade qualification required.
• Minimum 6 years of practical fitting experience.
• Experience with pumps or rotating equipment preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
• Good communication and positive team attitude.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office).

Responsibilities

• Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild pumps and rotating equipment.
• Diagnose faults and recommend repairs.
• Complete pump, gearbox and motor assemblies.
• Perform precision alignments with dial indicators and laser alignment.
• Conduct hydrostatic testing.
• Read drawings and follow procedures.
• Manufacture or modify components as required.
• Carry out final testing, cleaning and painting.
• Complete inspection reports and documentation.
• Maintain a safe, clean workshop.
• Travel to customer sites for field service.

About the Role

As a Service Technician, you'll be responsible for servicing, repairing and rebuilding centrifugal pumps and associated rotating equipment in our Gladstone workshop, with occasional field service work at customer sites.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild pumps and rotating equipment
• Diagnose faults and recommend repair solutions
• Complete pump, gearbox and motor assemblies
• Perform precision alignments using dial indicators and laser alignment equipment
• Conduct hydrostatic testing
• Read engineering drawings and follow technical procedures
• Manufacture or modify components where required
• Carry out final testing, cleaning and painting of completed equipment
• Complete inspection reports and job documentation
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop
• Occasionally travel to customer sites for field service work

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys quality workmanship and takes pride in delivering excellent service.

You’ll ideally have:

• Mechanical Fitter Trade Qualification
• Minimum 6 years' practical fitting experience (including apprenticeship)
• Experience with pumps, rotating equipment or industrial machinery (preferred)
• Strong fault-finding and mechanical assembly skills
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Commitment to safe work practices
• Good communication skills and a positive team attitude
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
