Hoa Nghiem Buddhist College, a small, co-educational primary school in Melbourne, is seeking a reflective educator to teach LOTE Chinese (Prep–Year 6) for 0.2 FTE on Thursdays in 2027.

You will join a calm, mindful environment with small classes, a supportive staff, and opportunities for professional learning in mindfulness and nature-based pedagogy. VIT registration and Victorian teaching eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Qualified to teach in Victorian primary schools and hold current VIT registration.
• Strong skills in your specialist area and ability to teach Prep to Year 6.
• Collaborative spirit and desire to work in a close-knit team.
• Respect for cultural diversity and Buddhist perspectives; you do not need to be Buddhist.
• High expectations for students of every background and ability, and commitment to wellbeing.
• Curiosity about nature-inspired pedagogies and openness to innovative teaching.
• Commitment to child safety.

• Respect for cultural diversity and for Buddhist perspectives (you do not need to be Buddhist)

• Curiosity about nature-inspired pedagogies such as biomimicry and ecological education, and openness to innovative teaching
• The ability to build warm, professional relationships with students, families and colleagues
• A firm commitment to child safety
