We're a global healthcare leader trusted by millions and committed to helping people to live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. Healthcare is changing, and so are we. We're investing in more clinics, better systems and smarter, more connected ways to help our customers. As we continue to expand our services and invest in innovation, you'll help create a healthcare system that meets people where they are, responds to what they need and leaves them better than before.

Here, your work has purpose, your voice matters and your future is full of possibility.

But what you might not realise is that we also deliver health services to 85,000 Defence Force members and their families across more than 50 locations in Australia.

About the role

As a Senior Dentist Locum Relief with Bupa ADF Health Services you will provide backfill support to the health centres across your state or even Australia wide in order to maintain Health Centre operations during periods of planned leave.

This is a fantastic opportunity for dentists with leadership skills to stretch into a Senior Dentist role, growing your skillset with experience across a variety of Health centres and clinics as well as developing your expertise with changing patient cohorts and clinical environments.

You will balance regular travel (around block assignments) with time based in your home location either supporting local health centres with short-term leave requirements or the ADF Health Services more broadly with clinical support in quality and governance.

While based in one of our Health Centres as a Senior Dentist you will:

  • Provide clinical and professional leadership in the Health Centre.
  • Advise on adequate staffing levels within department and supervision of clinical staff.
  • Rectify unsafe clinical practice or unprofessional conduct within area of responsibility.
  • Implement, maintain and monitor administrative policies, procedures and instructions and provide advice through Health Governance Managers and Regional Medical Advisers on policy improvement.
  • Delegation of secondary duties/responsibilities including quality management, infection control, work health and safety, equity and diversity, security, and emergency control organisation warden.
  • Conduct team meetings and staff training activities, including prepare and present, in the provision of training to other staff members and conduct performance appraisals for ADF, APS and Contractor Personnel working within area of responsibility.
  • Manage the delivery of services against benchmark standards and other clinical governance Key Performance Indicators.
  • Collect, collate, analyse and report relevant data as required in a timely manner.
  • Provide support to the Health Governance Manager and Regional Medical Advisor and/or quality manager in staffing all Clinical Incident reports, health care complaints, reviews and appeals or Quality Management activities.
About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • has strong management skills including leadership, conflict resolution and an understanding of medical ethics and medico legal issues
  • is comfortable in a heavily administrative role
  • Has a genuine commitment to mentor, lead and grow internal talent and champion a meaningful career pathway for our clinicians

You will also require:

  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a medical practitioner in Australia with AHPRA
