Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a Mechanical Maintainer to join the Rolling Stock Maintenance team at Cape Lambert. Based in Wickham, you will perform planned and breakdown maintenance on locomotives and rolling stock, ensuring reliability and safety.

The role offers a 3 days on, 3 nights, 6 days off roster, residential arrangement, and a comprehensive benefits package. You will work with a supportive team committed to safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Mechanical trade qualification and a strong commitment to safety.
• Current Australian Manual C Class Driver’s Licence.
• Experience in heavy haulage rail or heavy mobile equipment maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Team-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on locomotive and brake car assets.
• Perform fault finding and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Undertake component change-outs during maintenance and repair activities.
• Utilise SAP to capture and record maintenance activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and work practices.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to achieve team objectives.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company standards and legislative requirements.
