Job summary

Pacific National Nebo, QLD, is seeking skilled Locomotive Maintainers to perform maintenance, diagnostics, inspections and repairs on locomotives to ensure safe, reliable service for rail operations.

You will work across mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment, using diagnostic software and CMMS to fault-find and document work.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification: Electrical or Mechanical (Cert III or equivalent) required.
• Experience in locomotive or heavy industrial/mobile equipment maintenance is essential.
• Strong diagnostic capability using laptop tools, schematics and measurement equipment.
• Ability to work safely in a shift-based, industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, running repairs and component changeouts.
• Conduct detailed inspections on traction motors, compressors, braking systems, pantographs and other major locomotive components.
• Use diagnostic software, schematics and testing equipment to fault-find and isolate issues.
• Complete functional testing and certify locomotives as ready for service.
• Maintain accurate work orders, defect codes and job history within the Pacific National CMMS.
• Follow all WHS, rail safety, isolation and safe‑working procedures at all times.
• Work collaboratively with operations, planning, engineering and stores to support fleet availability.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.
