Job summary

Blacktown City Council is seeking a Library Technician to join the Community Learning team, supporting Local History initiatives. You will assist customers, preserve local history materials, and help with digital services and outreach.

You will work with the Local History Librarian, organise archives, digitise items for Blacktown Memories, and participate in information sessions and staff meetings. Evening/weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a library setting.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Digital literacy and sound problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers at library service points and answer enquiries.
• Shelve and check resources and help users with online/digital services.
• Organise, index and preserve local history material (photos, maps, newspapers).
• Research and digitise material for Blacktown Memories; assist with oral history recordings.
• Prepare resource guides and support information sessions.
• Rostered public desk shifts, including evenings and weekends where required.
