Job summary

Blacktown City Council’s Library Services team is seeking a Library Technician for Community Learning and Local History. You will support the Local History Librarian, assist customers, organise historical material, and help users access digital services.

You will contribute to preserving Blacktown’s history, participate in staff meetings, and work public desk shifts, including evenings and weekends when required. A secure permanent full-time role with an entry-level salary is offered.

Qualifications

• Suitable library experience.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Digital literacy.
• Sound problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers at library service points and respond to information inquiries.
• Shelve and check resources and help customers use online and digital services.
• Organise, index and preserve photographs, maps, newspapers and other local history material.
• Research and digitise material for Blacktown Memories and assist with oral history recordings.
• Prepare resource guides and support information sessions.
• Work rostered public desk shifts, including evenings and weekends where required.
