Job summary

Bottle Tree Feedlot in Queensland is seeking a practical Livestock Hand to assist with daily care, welfare, and management of cattle across our feedlot yards.

You will work closely with an experienced stock team to monitor health, assist with drafting and movements, and uphold biosecurity and safety procedures in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Own horse suitable for pen riding.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Good communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Daily monitoring of cattle across feedlot pens.
• Riding pens on your own horse to identify animals requiring attention.
• Assisting with drafting, processing, and cattle movements.
• Supporting animal health programs under the direction of senior staff.
• Maintaining clean, safe yards and facilities.
• Operating plant and equipment as required (training provided).
• Following biosecurity and safety procedures.
• Working collaboratively with the livestock and operations teams.

What you’ll be doing

As a Livestock Hand, you’ll support the day‑to‑day management and welfare of cattle across the feedlot — working closely with an experienced stock team to monitor animal health, assist with cattle movements, and keep the yards safe and clean.
