Job summary

Murrumbidgee Local Health District is seeking a Drug and Alcohol Peer Worker in Griffith to join the Community Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol team. Use your lived experience to inspire hope and support others to achieve their recovery goals.

Working with clinicians, you will provide practical support, advocacy and recovery‑focused care, assist consumers to access services, and promote wellbeing and community connection. The role is Part Time and Casual in Griffith with 19 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Lived Experience of recovery from alcohol and/or other drug use.
• Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or willingness to obtain within 18 months).
• A relevant health or community services qualification, or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel.

• Use lived experience to provide hope, understanding and support to others.
• Build respectful, trusting relationships with consumers, families and carers.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary Drug and Alcohol team.
• Support recovery-focused and person-centred care planning.
• Facilitate wellbeing, recovery and community connection activities.
• Assist consumers to access services, groups and community supports.
• Monitor consumer wellbeing and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Contribute to a service culture that values recovery, inclusion and lived experience.
