Job summary

Merri-bek City Council is seeking a dedicated Litter Collection Officer to clean streets across the municipality. You will operate during pre-dawn shifts starting at 3:30am, following rosters and established work practices, and you will support the City Amenity Unit to maintain high standards of cleanliness.

The role requires a Victorian MR-endorsement licence, experience driving trucks in populated areas, and a commitment to safe, efficient service.

Qualifications

• A current Victorian Drivers Licence with Medium Rigid Endorsement.
• Experience driving trucks in built-up areas and operating small plant/equipment.
• Experience delivering high-standard street cleansing or related maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality litter collection services in the municipality.
• Work to rosters with shifts starting at 3:30am and a fortnightly RDO.
• Support the City Amenity Unit to ensure continuous cleansing services.
• Regular overtime for weekend morning programs.

About the role

Provide high-quality public litter collection services throughout the Municipality in a safe, efficient and effective manner to improve and enhance the cleanliness of municipality in accordance with accepted work practices.

The successful candidate will work in accordance with developed rosters and work practices; these shifts start at 3:30am and operate with a fortnightly RDO.

Supplement requirements in the City Amenity Unit when other staff are unavailable to ensure continuity of the provision of services within the Street Cleansing Unit, as required.

Participate in regular overtime to service the needs of the Saturday morning and Sunday morning programs.

To be successful in this position you must be someone who enjoys contact with the community and working within a dynamic team to ensure Council's City Amenity Cleansing services are delivered to a top standard.

Skills and experience required to perform the role

• A current Victorian Drivers Licence with Medium Rigid Endorsement,
• Demonstrated experience in driving trucks in built up areas and operating a range of small plant and equipment.
• Demonstrated experience in providing a high standard of street cleansing and / or related maintenance programs.
