Job summary

Merri-bek City Council is seeking a Cultural Development Project Coordinator to support the planning and delivery of the Coburg Library and Piazza development. You will work with the Manager Cultural Development to coordinate stakeholder engagement, activation planning, and service delivery modelling.

Ideal candidates have strong experience in library/programming contexts, place activation, and project management, with a focus on community engagement and research-informed delivery.

Qualifications

• At least five years professional experience in place activation, community or cultural planning, library management and/or programming, community hub management, urban design or a related discipline.
• High level project management skills, including the ability to lead processes and deliver complex, multifaceted projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
• Knowledge of, and ability to research, best practice in contemporary libraries, place activation, cultural facilities, community hub design and service delivery planning.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate stakeholder engagement, activation planning and service delivery modelling for the Coburg Library and Piazza project.
• Research into contemporary library design and service delivery planning.
• Lead preparation of reports, submissions and presentations in collaboration with Council staff and external partners.

About the role

The Cultural Development Project Coordinator will support the planning and delivery of the new Coburg Library and Piazza. Working closely with the Manager Cultural Development, this role will coordinate key strategic objectives and service delivery planning for the new development, including stakeholder engagement, activation planning, service delivery modelling, public art coordination, and research into contemporary library design and service delivery.

Skills and experience required to perform the role

• At least five years professional experience in place activation, community or cultural planning, library management and/or programming, community hub management, urban design or a related discipline.
• High level project management skills, including the ability to lead processes and deliver complex, multifaceted projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
• Knowledge of, and ability to research, best practice in contemporary libraries, place activation, cultural facilities, community hub design and service delivery planning.
• Demonstrated experience in research, consultation, user needs assessment and evaluation to inform service planning and project outcomes.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with Council staff, consultants, community organisations, government agencies and community members.
• Excellent negotiation, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high quality reports, submissions and presentations.
• Demonstrated understanding of Child Safety and Wellbeing responsibilities and a current WWCC.
