Job summary

Cleared is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to support secure Azure and Red Hat environments within a government customer. The role focuses on administration, automation and ongoing support of enterprise Linux platforms to ensure availability, performance, compliance and operational stability.

You will work with service management, infrastructure and cloud teams to deliver reliable platform services onsite in Canberra or Melbourne.

Qualifications

• Active NV1 clearance required for government work.
• RHCSA and/or RHCE certification required.
• Experience supporting Azure and Red Hat environments in enterprise or government settings.
• Ability to manage RHEL and Windows Server VMs in production and non-production environments.
• Familiarity with infrastructure patching and monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, problem and change management).

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments across production and non-production systems.
• Manage and support Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat Satellite.
• Develop automation scripts and workflows using Ansible and Git.
• Support Azure-hosted infrastructure and VM environments.
• Monitor system performance, availability and patch compliance using Azure tools.
• Configure RBAC, NSGs, tagging and high availability solutions.
• Troubleshoot Level 2/3 infrastructure incidents.
• Support change management and service requests.
• Integrate monitoring with Azure Monitor and Dynatrace.
• Contribute to platform hardening, backups and security improvements.
• Maintain technical documentation and runbooks.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to support and maintain secure Azure and Red Hat environments within a government customer. This role is responsible for the administration, automation and ongoing support of enterprise Linux platforms, ensuring availability, performance, compliance and operational stability. You will work closely with service management, infrastructure and cloud teams to deliver reliable and secure platform services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments across production and non-production systems
• Manage and support Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat Satellite
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows using Ansible and Git-based version control
• Support Azure-hosted infrastructure and virtual machine environments
• Monitor system performance, availability and patch compliance using Azure native tools
• Configure and maintain RBAC controls, NSGs, tagging policies and high availability solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve Level 2 and Level 3 infrastructure incidents
• Support change management, service requests and operational activities
• Integrate and maintain monitoring solutions including Azure Monitor and Dynatrace
• Contribute to platform hardening, backup validation and security improvement activities
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and knowledge base articles

Education/Certifications Required

• Australian citizen with active NV1 clearance
• RHCSA and/or RHCE

Knowledge/Skills Required

• Experience supporting Azure and Red Hat environments in enterprise or government settings
• Experience managing RHEL and Windows Server virtual machines
• Strong knowledge of Azure IaaS services including virtual machines, storage, NSGs, load balancers and availability zones
• Experience with infrastructure patching using Azure Automation and Update Management
• Familiarity with Azure Monitor and Dynatrace
• Strong troubleshooting skills across operating systems, compute and networking
• Experience with Git and version control practices
• Understanding of ITIL processes including incident, problem and change management
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform or ARM templates (desirable)
• Experience supporting regulated or government environments (desirable)
