Job summary

VW Tech in Wallan, Victoria, seeks a qualified Motor Mechanic (Light Vehicle) to service and repair a range of vehicles, with emphasis on European makes. The role focuses on diagnostics, maintenance, and high-quality workmanship in a busy workshop environment.

The successful candidate will work in a modern facility, using Bosch diagnostics and VW ODIS equipment, and will benefit from a supportive team and opportunities to advance technical skills related to European vehicles.

Qualifications

• Recognised trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic (Light Vehicle) or equivalent.
• Minimum 12 months’ relevant industry experience.
• Sound knowledge of modern light vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
• Experience with servicing, brakes, suspension, engines and transmission systems.
• Ability to read and follow manufacturer repair information and technical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled vehicle servicing and preventive maintenance, including oil and filter changes.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Inspect, maintain and repair petrol engines and related components.
• Service and repair transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems.
• Replace worn parts and dismantle/reassemble assemblies for inspection and repair.
• Identify and rectify vehicle faults using manufacturer specs and service manuals.
