The Opportunity

We are looking for a Recreational Activities Officer to join our team at Gumleigh Gardens Hostel in our Riverina Murray Region. We have a casual opportunity available that includes being available for weekend work. You will make a difference to our residents by facilitating positive health and wellbeing options for individuals, their families, and carers.

As the Recreational Activities Officer, you will drive the energy, engagement, and participation of residents into a range of social, recreational, and cultural activities. You will also lead mental health and wellbeing programs which empower our resident's choices and independence.

Essential qualifications and experience

  • The ability to plan, organise, and lead activities for our residents that will meet social and recreational needs while also promoting independence and increasing quality of life.
  • The ability to assess and document the effectiveness of the programs, by tracking residents' progress and changing the programs as needed
  • Minimum of a Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable)
  • Previous experience within an aged care setting
  • Highly developed organisation and time management skills
  • The ability to solve problems independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of Resident Rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards and Outcomes
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, internet/intranet skills, email communication, and confidence with smart phones and digital devices
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety
