Job summary

Barwon Health in Victoria is seeking a dedicated Lifestyle and Wellbeing Activities Officer to design, coordinate and deliver diverse activities that reflect residents’ interests and needs. You will promote participation, reduce loneliness, and support social connections across the residential setting.

The role requires relevant aged care qualifications and the ability to work independently within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Aged Care or Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or equivalent recognised by Barwon Health.
• Knowledge of the Australian Aged Care system and dementia care practices.
• Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate and deliver lifestyle and wellbeing activities reflecting residents' interests and abilities.
• Promote meaningful participation, reduce loneliness and support social connections.
• Support inclusive, culturally responsive activities and community outings.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to enhance programs and maintain resident profiles and care plans.

About the role

To support the delivery of meaningful, resident-focused lifestyle and wellbeing activities and programs that reflects what residents want to do, reduce loneliness, and support ongoing participation in everyday community life both within and beyond the residential setting.

Key responsibilities

• Design, coordinate and deliver diverse, innovative and individualised lifestyle and wellbeing activities that reflect residents' interests, preferences and abilities.
• Promote meaningful participation, reduce loneliness and boredom, and support residents to maintain social connections and engage in everyday community life.
• Support inclusive, culturally responsive and rights-based activities, including purposeful daily activities, community engagement and regular outings.
• Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to enhance lifestyle programs, match volunteers to residents' interests, and maintain accurate resident profiles, assessments and care plans.

What we’re looking for

• Certificate III in Aged Care (CHC30212); or, (ii) Certificate IV in Leisure and Health (CHC43415); or (iii) An equivalent qualification awarded by a registered training organisation, recognised by Barwon Health.
• Sound knowledge of the Australian Aged Care system and contemporary dementia care practices.
• Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills.
