Job summary

Uniting Communities is seeking a Casual Lifestyle Assistant to create engaging, meaningful activities for residents across social, cultural, and recreational wellbeing. You will plan, run and tailor programs that foster joy, connection, and independence.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with residents, families, volunteers, and staff, maintain records, and contribute to continuous improvement while ensuring activities are delivered safely and ethically within regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Lifestyle and Leisure is required.
  • Experience in Lifestyle, Leisure, Recreation, or Aged Care is required.
  • Experience participating in quality reviews or audits.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive, caring, resident-focused approach.
  • Confidence in administration and record keeping.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships.
  • Patience, empathy, and listening skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver fun, meaningful lifestyle programs that celebrate each resident’s individuality.
  • Support residents’ wellbeing socially, culturally, intellectually and emotionally while encouraging independence.
  • Coordinate group activities, special events, outings, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Tailor activities to meet individual interests, abilities and care requirements.
  • Listen to feedback from residents, families and colleagues to improve programs.
  • Update Lifestyle Care Plans and maintain accurate records supporting quality care.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and service reviews.
  • Manage activity resources and equipment responsibly and creatively.
  • Ensure all activities are delivered safely and in line with regulations.

What You’ll Be Doing

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Certificate IV in Lifestyle and Leisure.
  • Experience working within a Lifestyle, Leisure, Recreation, or Aged Care team.
  • Experience participating in quality reviews or audits.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
