Job summary

Western Sydney University’s Library is seeking a Library Communications Coordinator at the Penrith campus to lead integrated marketing and engagement across services, programs and spaces, working with Library leaders and stakeholders.

You will manage a small communications team, develop content for web, social media and print, use audience insights to improve reach, and help support student success, research excellence and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Marketing, Media, Communications or Social Media with four years’ experience, or equivalent substantial relevant work experience.
  • Experience developing strategic communications planning for diverse audiences and platforms.
  • Strong organisation and project management skills with ability to manage simultaneous projects and deadlines.
  • High computer literacy with Adobe Suite and Canva.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lead others, work independently and communicate complex issues clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver integrated marketing and communications strategies across relevant channels and audiences.
  • Produce accurate, relevant and timely targeted communications and promotional collateral.
  • Establish coordinated communication protocols and event promotion schedules with stakeholders.
  • Use channel and platform performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide strategic advice to Library leaders while effectively leading the Library Communications team.

  • Based at Western’s Kingswood (Penrith) campus, with flexible working arrangements
  • Salary: HEW Level 7 $107,053 – $115,469 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading

Lead integrated Library communications that increase awareness, participation and engagement across services, programs and spaces.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Library Communications Coordinator to work within the University Library team at the Penrith campus. Working closely with Library leaders and academic and professional stakeholders, you will play a central role in communicating Library services and strengthening connections with the communities the Library serves.

You will lead the strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive integrated marketing, communications and engagement activities that promote Library services, programs, spaces and initiatives.

Leading a small communications team, you will oversee the creation and delivery of content across web, social media and written channels. You will ensure communications are accurate, relevant and timely, while increasing awareness, participation and engagement with Library services.

You will use audience insights, market trends and channel performance data to evaluate communications and identify opportunities for improvement. Through coordinated campaigns, strategic advice and productive stakeholder relationships, you will support student success, research excellence and community engagement.

What Success Looks Like:

In this role, success will be achieved through audience-focused communications that increase awareness of, participation in and engagement with Library services, programs and initiatives. You will:

  • Deliver comprehensive integrated marketing and communications strategies across relevant channels and audiences.

  • Establish coordinated communication protocols and event promotion schedules with stakeholders that are cohesive, effective and enablesoptimal engagement.

  • Provide clear strategic advice to Library leaders and stakeholders while effectively leading the Library Communications team.

About You

You are a strategic communications professional with strong leadership capability, sound judgement and a passion for creating meaningful engagement. You bring experience developing and delivering communications strategies that increase awareness, participation and engagement, while supporting student success, research excellence and community impact. You will bring:

  • A degree in Marketing, Media, Communications or Social Media with four years’ experience, or equivalent substantial relevant work experience in a marketing, advertising or communications role.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategic communications planning, including the ability to tailor messages for a variety of audiences and platforms such as web, social media and written formats.
  • Strong organisation and project management skills, including the ability to manage simultaneous projects, deadlines and can adapt to unexpected events and competing priorities.
  • High level of computer literacy, including advanced digital image creation skills using current applications and platforms such as Adobe Suite and Canva.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, encompassing facilitating difficult conversations and articulating complex issues lucidly and succinctly.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others, work independently and communicate complex issues clearly.
It is desirable that you bring:
  • Experience in library services, nonprofit organizations, or public sector communications
  • Experience with graphic design, video production, or multimedia content creation
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools for measuring communications effectiveness
