Job summary

NSW Health's The Children’s Hospital at Westmead invites an Occupational Therapist (Level 1-2) to join its Paediatric OT Department on a permanent full-time basis. Rotations include inpatient rehabilitation, medical/surgical care, cardiac and critical care, oncology and hand therapy. ADOs, salary packaging and flexible work options may apply.

The role focuses on evidence-based practice, family-centred care, and contributing to education, research and quality initiatives within a dynamic MDT.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration.
• Postgraduate experience in paediatric hospital setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage time and priorities in a busy service.
• Commitment to continuing education and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical OT services to inpatients and/or outpatients.

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Occupational Therapy Department at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a rotational Level 1/2 position. Rotations currently offered include inpatient rehabilitation, general medical/surgical, cardiac and critical care, oncology and hand therapy.

This position is separate to our dedicated 2-year New Graduate position, which will be advertised shortly.

What you’ll be doing

The occupational therapist will provide clinical services to inpatients and/or outpatients referred for Occupational Therapy. The occupational therapist will provide evidence based care within a multidisciplinary and family centred context, and utilise holistic occupational therapy models of care. Participation and leadership is expected in ongoing education, teaching, research, evidence based practice and quality improvement activities.
The Level 1/2 Occupational Therapist will contribute to:

• Planning, development and evaluation of occupational therapy services.
• Development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and practice guidelines for patient care.
• Liaison with community-based services as relevant to the patient population

Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration.
