Job summary

NBCUniversal seeks a part-time Legal Intern to support the Australia, New Zealand and Asia channels businesses. You will work with the Legal and Business Affairs team on legal, compliance and business matters in a fast-paced office.

Responsibilities include researching legal developments, reviewing contracts, and assisting with policy drafting and staff training. The internship runs March 2027 to December 2027 and requires enrollment for the full duration.

Qualifications

• Experience in preparing written legal advice, on-the-job or coursework.
• General understanding of contract terms (e.g. payment terms, SLAs, termination clauses).
• Proficient with word processing tools, especially Microsoft Word.
• Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
• Passion for law and interest in television and film industries.
• Ethical, responsible, with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research key legal developments and prepare briefing notes for NBCU legal team.
• Review contracts including program licences and services agreements; maintain NBCU contract database.
• Assist with company administration and corporate secretarial matters.
• Help draft policies and training materials and support staff training sessions.
• Assist with rights clearance, crew and participant releases, and related initiatives.
• Handle ad hoc filing, admin tasks and liaise with external customers as needed.

Job Description

Supporting our Australia, New Zealand and Asia channels businesses, including Universal TV, 7Bravo, Bravo New Zealand, Studio Universal, DreamWorks, Oxygen and Hayu, the Legal Intern will work with our Legal and Business Affairs team across a variety of legal, compliance and business affairs matters, in an engaging, exciting and fast-paced office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research on key legal developments, and preparation of briefing notes for NBCU legal team.
• Review of contracts, including program licences, research, marketing and general services agreements, and assistance with maintenance of NBCU contract database.
• Assistance with company administration and corporate secretarial document and compliance matters.
• Assistance with drafting of policies and training materials, and in provision of staff training sessions.
• Assistance with rights clearance matters, preparation of crew and participant releases, administration of marketing competitions and related initiatives.
• Ad hoc filing, administrative and general team-support responsibilities, and liaising with external customers as required.

Qualifications

• High level of self-motivation and ability to work autonomously.
• Passion for the law, and strong interest in television and film industries.

• Exceptional organisational skills and high level of attention to detail.
• Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.

This part-time internship requires a 9-month commitment from March 2027 to December 2027.
