Job summary

Our client in the engineering and construction sector seeks a front-end construction or projects lawyer to join their in-house team. You will handle end-to-end project contracts and provide ongoing support to a skilled General Counsel.

You will draft and review EPC, DB and O&M contracts, advise on tenders and major joint ventures, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver projects that benefit Australians.

Qualifications

• 5–9 years of post-admission experience gained in-house or at a top-tier/mid-tier firm.
• Experience in front-end construction, infrastructure and/or major projects.
• Desirable but not required: prior in-house or secondment experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate EPC contracts.
• Review and negotiate DB contracts.
• Review and negotiate O&M contracts.
• Review tenders, JV agreements and key subcontracts.
• Advise on tenders and contracts for PPPs and Alliances.
• Review other commercial agreements.
• Manage external counsel and develop internal stakeholder relationships.

About the Position

Our client is seeking a front-end construction or projects lawyer to work on major construction projects for their in-house legal team. In the role, you will report to a very experienced General Counsel who is friendly and a great mentor.

You will work on the full lifecycle of the projects from cradle to grave and also ongoing operational support. You will work on projects that are rewarding with the knowledge you are making a real positive impact in the daily lives of millions of Australians.

About You

You are a front-end construction or projects lawyer with good commercial acumen and strong experience in drafting and reviewing a variety of construction contracts. You have great people relationship skills and can work in a fast paced environment.

Duties

In the role, you will:

• Review and negotiate Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts.
• Review and negotiate Design Build (DB) Contracts, Operation & Management (O&M) Contracts.
• Review and negotiate contracts for tenders, JV Agreements and key subcontracts.
• Advise on tenders and contracts for PPP’s and Alliances.
• Review other commercial agreements.
• Manage external counsel and develop relationships with internal stakeholders.
