ABOUT THE POSITION

Join Fluence, a global leader in energy storage products, services, and digital applications, and play a key role in shaping Australia’s clean energy future. As Legal Counsel (Australia), you’ll be part of a collaborative and high-impact legal team supporting battery storage projects across Australia and Asia.

Responsibilities
  • Be at the frontline, supporting the negotiations and delivery of complex EPC contracts, service agreements, and supply contracts that enable the deployment of Fluence’s BESS solutions
  • Support negotiations on high-value construction, services, equipment sales, subcontracts, and procurement agreements across Australia and Asia
  • Serve as a key interface between technical, commercial, and legal teams—translating business priorities into robust contracts
  • Support the full project lifecycle—from preparing commercial offers and RFP responses to contract close-out and project delivery
  • Contribute to Fluence’s global legal strategy through the development and refinement of contract templates and risk standards
Experience
  • 2–4 years' legal experience in commercial or transactional law ideally within the construction, infrastructure, or energy sectors—experience with utility-scale renewable energy or storage projects is a strong advantage
  • A commercial mindset, with the ability to align legal outcomes with business objectives and risk considerations
  • Proven ability to prepare and revise commercial contracts, ideally EPC agreements and project claims
  • A willingness to support and/or lead negotiations—you feel confident engaging directly with customers and suppliers
  • Strong commercial judgment and relationship-building skills—you know when to hold firm and when to seek compromise
  • Proactive, curious, and able to balance competing priorities while keeping sight of the overall goal
  • This role is based in Melbourne, with some regular business travel expected.

  • Inclusive Paid Parental Leave to support all caregivers in balancing family and work (eligible employees only)
  • Mobile phone allowance to stay connected
  • Opportunities for performance-based bonuses, recognizing contributions and achievements
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment that supports growth and success
  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid work options to support your lifestyle
