Job summary

Purpose

The legal practitioner will provide expert immigration advice to our clients and will be the initial and ongoing point of contact with the firm’s clients under supervision of the Manager.

Key Functions
  • Knowledge: To continually improve legal knowledge and apply those learnings when advising clients.
  • Compliance: To ensure that you are meeting your professional obligations under the relevant legislation; To ensure that you follow our Process Map and adherence to the procedures in place for the smooth running of the legal practice; To manage the bits and pieces that ensure that we as a firm and as individual practitioners remain compliant.
Main Duties
  • Provision of expert advice in immigration law to the firm’s clients with a focus on inbound corporate migration to Australia, including permanent employer sponsored, temporary residency, business, significant investor visas;
  • Undertaking research into complex areas of immigration law including drafting advice to clients in plain English;
  • Understanding the firm’s clients and focusing on their needs including the level of service required to best meet those needs;
  • Maintaining a proactive ‘client-centric’ approach to the delivery of services;
  • Continual process improvement and management of the firm’s intellectual property through the development of templates and precedents;
  • Managing service delivery from engagement through to completion by delegating work to the appropriate staff to ensure that work is completed as efficiently as possible;
  • Meet all KPIs as agreed with the client and/or the practice leader;
  • Ensuring that appropriate checks and reviews are taken to ensure that matters comply with the relevant risk protocols;
  • Maintaining currency of firm’s service offerings by continual personal improvement in all areas of practice;
  • Other duties as stipulated by the directors of the business.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in law and some legal / immigration experience;
