Job summary

The ACT Government Directorate of Compliance is seeking an Assistant Director, Legal and Compliance. Reporting into the Senior Director, Legal, you will provide legal, regulatory, licensing and compliance advice on complex matters within the Territory.

You will conduct research, analyse legislation and prepare briefs and recommendations, undertake compliance assessments and identify regulatory risks, and build strong stakeholder relationships across government, industry and the community.

Qualifications

• Strong research and written communication skills.
• Ability to interpret complex information and prepare briefs and recommendations.
• Sound judgement and attention to detail managing competing priorities.
• Understanding of confidentiality, procedural fairness and regulatory decision-making.
• Knowledge of utility regulation and consumer protection issues is desirable.
• Legal qualifications or demonstrated experience in regulation and compliance is desirable.
• Experience in legislative interpretation and drafting is desirable.
