Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent qualification in relevant mathematical sciences.
• Demonstrated research ability in an area of pure mathematics aligning with school directions.
• Evidence of effective teaching.
• Evidence of research collaborations.
• Capacity to conduct productive research at an international level.
• Strong publication record in top peer-reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality external grant applications.
• Ability to supervise Honours and coursework Masters students.
• Experience in student supervision including Honours and Masters projects.
• High level oral and written communication skills and ability to network with diverse students and staff.
• Willingness to deliver high quality teaching and student experience to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Track record of involvement with the profession and/or industry.
• Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
• Knowledge of UNSW aims, objectives and values in action, and relevant policies and guidelines.
• Knowledge of health & safety responsibilities and commitment to training.

Responsibilities

• Actively carry out high quality, high-impact research aligned with School strengths.
• Develop research collaborations within the School and with industry or groups on campus.
• Develop national and international research collaborations.
• Disseminate findings at seminars and conferences within UNSW and internationally.
• Supervise Honours and Masters coursework projects; supervise PhD and Masters students.
• Contribute to design of programs and courses; deliver high-quality teaching across maths and non-math courses at all levels.
• Participate in School activities and take on leadership roles where possible.
• Undertake administrative duties as required by Head of School and committees.
• Engage with industry and community to develop productive relationships and attract funding.
• Collaborate with peers across Faculty and UNSW and mentor other staff.
• Align with UNSW Values in Action and Code of Conduct.
• Comply with health and safety policies to safeguard health of all.
