Job description

The School of Health at UniSC Sunshine Coast, Sippy Downs or UniSC Caboolture is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Indigenous Health and Wellbeing. This is a full-time, ongoing appointment with a salary commensurate with academic level.

The School of Health has a strong focus on cultivating healthy minds, bodies, and environments through teaching, research, and outreach efforts. The school is committed to advancing knowledge in the health sector and improving the well-being of communities.

The Opportunity involves joining the dynamic academic team as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Indigenous Health and Wellbeing. The successful candidate will inspire the next generation of culturally safe health professionals, lead innovative curriculum design, and foster Cultural Safety in public health education.

Key responsibilities include:

  • contributing to learning and teaching practices within the public health discipline
  • undertaking high-impact research
  • supervising honours students and HDR candidates
  • playing a part in successful research grant applications
  • contributing to governance, coordination of and participation in school capacity-building activities

About You: The ideal candidate will have expertise in public health, paired with strong pedagogical skills and excellent communication abilities. They will possess a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and learning, prioritising students' needs and employing innovative methods to create an engaging and supportive learning environment.

Required qualifications and experience include:

  • completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a public health field or equivalent accreditation and standing
  • proven track record as an effective teacher
  • sound and established track record of research activity
  • membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups
