Job summary

The BUSY School at Southport Girls+ Campus invites applications for an Inclusive Education Teacher to support Year 11 and 12 girls, including those who identify as female, to re-engage with their education.

You will work with classroom teachers to implement personalised learning, identify learning difficulties via standardised testing, and build strong, respectful relationships with a diverse range of students while applying behaviour management to maintain classroom expectations.

Qualifications

  • A relevant teaching qualification.
  • Full registration or eligibility for full registration in Queensland.
  • Ability to work within the curriculum of secondary education.

Responsibilities

  • Support Year 11 & 12 girls' learning and engagement with personalised learning approaches.
  • Assist class teachers in implementing learning plans and identify learning difficulties via standardised testing.
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with a diverse student body and apply behaviour management to maintain classroom expectations.

Job description

The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 45 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services.

The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 9 campuses across Cairns, Brisbane, and Gold Coast/Coolangatta, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.

Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.

Our teams’ focus is centred at re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12.

Job Description

About the position...

Based at our Southport Girls+ Campus we have a rewarding opportunity for an Inclusive Education Teacher to support Year 11 & 12 girls including those who identify as female the chance to reengage with their education.

Your role will be to support class teachers in the implementation of personalised learning practices, and where necessary identify and monitor students with learning difficulties via standardised testing and in consultation with staff, families and external supports. You will re-engage students with their learning by building strong respectful relationships with a diverse range of students while utilising behaviour management techniques to maintain the expectations of the classroom.

This role is permanent full-time role.
