Job summary

Glen Huntly Primary School in Victoria is seeking a Learning Specialist to model excellence in teaching and lead professional learning within the Teaching Service. The role emphasises observation, mentoring and the use of student data to inform instruction across the school.

The successful candidate will work with teachers to raise achievement, engagement and wellbeing, while modelling evidence‑informed practice and supporting school-based professional learning structures.

Qualifications

• Must hold provisional or full registration with Victorian Institute of Teaching.
• Evidence of postgraduate initial teacher education accreditation.
• Experience in using data to inform teaching and provide feedback to students and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
• Modelling exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons.
• Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice.
• Leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
• Leading professional learning including developing protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice and peer collaboration.
• Modelling effective learning practice and supporting teachers to seek, analyse and act on feedback.
• Providing expert advice about context, processes and strategies for professional learning.
• Supervising and training student teachers and mentoring/coaching teachers.
• Modelling exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches.
• Developing and promoting school-wide professional learning structures and PLCs.
• Modelling professional learning practices including seeking feedback from others to improve practice.
