Job summary

Coburn Primary School in Melton South is seeking Learning Specialists who will spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching while applying their expertise to mentoring and coaching colleagues. They will demonstrate excellence in teaching, support students’ achievement, engagement and wellbeing.

The role involves modelling lessons, observing colleagues, providing feedback, and leading school-based professional learning through Professional Learning

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum; ability to model teaching and literacy/numeracy across the curriculum.
• Expertise in high impact teaching strategies with a capacity to support teachers to evaluate learning impact.
• Model monitoring and assessment of student learning; use data to inform teaching and provide feedback.
• Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage with students, colleagues, parents and the school community.
• Demonstrated alignment with Department values and support for school-based professional learning.
• Authenticity, enthusiasm and a positive presence to enrich school culture.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
• Model exemplary classroom practice including teaching demonstration lessons.
• Collaborate with leadership to define highly effective teaching practices.
• Lead and model whole-school improvement strategies for curriculum planning and delivery.
• Provide professional learning and develop observation/feedback processes for teachers.
• Model learning practices and support teachers to act on feedback.
• Provide evidence-based feedback to teachers to inform development.
• Offer expert advice on school professional learning context and strategies.
• Supervise and mentor student teachers and coach teachers.
• Model data-informed teaching and promote PLCs across the school.
