We aim to give every student in our care the very best possible education in order to prepare them for life beyond school. We are a learning community, which encourages staff, students, past students and parents to involve themselves fully in all aspects of school life and to identify themselves with its values: Learning, Respect, Integrity, Courage and Optimism.

Our School campus is located in the leafy inner east suburb of Canterbury, on land originally inhabited by the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, and blends period architecture with exciting contemporary design and state-of-the-art facilities.

About the Role

We are seeking passionate and driven Learn to Swim Instructors, possessing a mature approach to fostering a safe and supportive aquatic environment, to join our Aquatics department.

You will be responsible for delivering high quality learn to swim lessons and fostering a positive, educational swimming culture, in conjunction with the Learn to Swim Team. Proven experience as a learn to swim teacher is essential, along with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment. An instructor with an Infants extension course qualification (SISCAQU027 or equivalent), emphasizing water safety through play based learning would be considered favourably.

This is a casual role, commencing in Term 4, 2025. We are seeking availability predominantly during school hours with some hours offered after school to accommodate program needs.

Our out of hours Learn To Swim programs operate Monday to Thursday from 3:15 pm to 6:30 pm, and Saturday mornings from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. There is an opportunity to conduct daytime classes during school hours, catering for both Camberwell Grammar students and local school groups.

About You
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to effectively communicate with both children and parents
  • Proven experience as a learn to swim teacher (minimum of 12 months experience)
  • The ability to constructively assist students with acquiring and mastering new skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to meet the program needs of different departments

Qualifications:

  • Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (TSW)
  • Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics (SISCAQU027 or equivalent) would be favourably considered
  • Level 2 First Aid and CPR qualification
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Crime Check
