WesTrac Perth is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Plant Mechanic to lead a team in our busy Perth workshop. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will mentor mechanics and apprentices, uphold safety and quality standards, and drive efficient high-volume maintenance on Caterpillar equipment across the state.

Qualifications

• Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (Heavy Mobile Plant Technology) or equivalent.
• Caterpillar equipment experience is essential.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, we are seeking an experienced Leading Hand Plant Mechanic to join our Perth Branch on a permanent full-time basis. This is an opportunity to lead from the front, working alongside a skilled team while mentoring mechanics and apprentices, maintaining exceptional safety standards, and driving quality outcomes in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Roster

5 days on, 2 days off – 10.5 hours (including a meal break) 2 weeks day shift - 06:00am-16:30pm

1 week night shift - 15:00pm-01:30am

What You’ll Do

• Lead and motivate a team of mechanics and apprentices
• Promote and encourage high safety and quality standards
• Assist in training and developing team members
• Handle high volume work efficiently

Skills & Experience

• Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (Heavy Mobile Plant Technology)
• Caterpillar equipment experience
• Team leadership experience with a strong emphasis on safety
• High attention to detail to ensure quality control aligns with dealer standards
• Ability to multitask in a busy environment
• Experience with machine and component rebuilds is advantageous.
