Job summary

Sydney Pressed Metal is seeking a Leading Hand for decorative metal installation in Sydney. You will oversee one project at a time from start to finish, lead a small crew and mentor an apprentice, ensuring precise set-out and flawless finishes while coordinating with clients on site.

Based in Caringbah with a clear two-year pathway to Site Supervisor, the role is hands-on (roughly 80% on tools) with planned hours and occasional night work as needed.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as carpenter, plasterer, shopfitter or roofer.
• 5+ years’ experience with strong all-round site skills.
• Experience running a job or leading others, even on small jobs.
• High standards and accuracy in set-out, measurement and finish.
• The patience to teach an apprentice properly.
• White Card and driver’s licence.
• Pressed metal experience is preferred but not required.

The work

Sydney Pressed Metal installs decorative metal panels on ceilings, walls and architectural features. Every job is different: heritage buildings that are never square, detailed set-outs and finishes that sit in full view of the public. It’s work people notice and you can point to for years. If you like solving problems on site and getting it exactly right, this is the work.

We’ve been doing it for 15 years with a team of six, based in Caringbah.

Company vehicle with private use, fuel and tolls covered

7am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional night work paid at penalty rates
