Job summary

Trinity Catholic College Lismore Ltd in NSW seeks a Leader of Learning – Mathematics to drive curriculum design, assessment practices and staff development across Years 7–12. The role requires faith leadership, strategic planning and a collaborative approach with the Leadership Team.

Trinity Catholic College Lismore is a co-educational College for students in Years 7 to 12. The College traces its foundation to 1886 when the Presentation Sisters began St. Mary's College, an independent school for girls, in 1886. This also marks the foundation of Catholic Education in Lismore. The Marist Brothers opened St. Joseph's High School in 1911 and the two schools operated independently until they amalgamated in 1985 to form Trinity Catholic College. Both Orders maintain an active involvement in the College. The charisms of St. Marcellin Champagnat, Founder of the Marist Brothers and Nano Nagle, Founder of the Presentation Sisters, the spirit of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, permeates all aspects of College life.

• Demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision and values of Catholic education, with the ability to lead and model Gospel-centred practice in learning and teaching.
• Capacity to support and promote the Catholic Identity of the College through pedagogical leadership, faith formation and inclusive practices that are consistent with the charisms of Nano Nagle and Marcellin Champagnat.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Trinity Leadership Team to integrate the College's Vision for Learning.

Leadership of Learning

• Proven ability to lead high-quality learning and teaching practices that improve student outcomes through challenging, connecting, engaging and inclusive pedagogical practices.
• Demonstrated expertise in pedagogical leadership, including planning, implementation and evaluation aligned with College priorities.
• Capacity to use evidence-based strategies to support differentiation, inclusive education and contemporary pedagogical practices aligned with the College's school-wide pedagogy.
• Demonstrated ability to observe classroom practice, provide evidence-based feedback and engage in instructional coaching that enhances teacher effectiveness and improves student learning outcomes.
• Capacity to lead the implementation and review of curriculum, assessment and teaching programs that align with NESA requirements, College priorities and the Vision for Learning.

Leadership of Continuous Improvement & Best Practice

• Demonstrated capacity to lead continuous improvement through the analysis of student data and evidence to inform teaching and learning decisions.
• Ability to implement and evaluate improvement initiatives aligned with the College's strategic plan and priorities.
• Commitment to reflective practice, innovation and the promotion of best practice across learning communities.
• Demonstrated capacity to develop, implement and evaluate strategic improvement plans within a Key Learning Area, aligning faculty priorities with whole-school goals and system requirements.

• Proven ability to lead, mentor and support teachers through coaching, feedback and professional learning to enhance instructional practice.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills that foster collaboration, trust, shared responsibility and professional accountability within teams.

Professional Knowledge and Practice

• Demonstrated deep understanding of curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements relevant to the role.
• Knowledge of contemporary research in learning, pedagogy and student wellbeing, and the ability to translate this into practice.
• Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage priorities, timelines and resources effectively.
• Demonstrated understanding of inclusive education, NCCD requirements and legislative obligations relating to student wellbeing, participation and learning support.

Qualifications and Accreditation

• Postgraduate qualifications or demonstrated leadership experience relevant to learning and teaching (desirable).
• Commitment to ongoing professional learning and maintenance of accreditation.

SELECTION PROCESS

• Candidates submit their application by 4.00pm, 14 September 2026.
• The Selection Panel shortlists the applications.
• Shortlisted candidates attend an interview.
• Preference is for face-to-face interviews.
• The appointment is made at the exclusive discretion of the Principal, on the recommendation of the panel.
