Job summary

Vets Central in Queensland invites an experienced Veterinarian to join our Cleveland clinic, with 4 days per week and a fortnightly schedule of 60–76 hours. The role includes 8am–6pm shifts, with an RDO and a rotating Saturday morning shift (1 in 3).

Join a supportive team handling preventative care, dentistry, X‑rays, desexing and routine surgery, with complex procedures supported by an external specialist when required. A strong client‑focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• BVSc or equivalent recognised in Australia.
• 5+ years’ experience in small animal GP (preferred).
• Strong all‑round GP skills in medicine and surgery.
• Leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate well with team and clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload including preventative care, medicine, dentistry and X‑rays.
• Perform desexing and routine surgery, with complex cases supported by an external surgeon.

Job description

We’re a group of three small animal general practice clinics across South-East Queensland, located in Nundah, New Farm and Cleveland. Our vibrant and supportive team includes experienced veterinarians, veterinary nurses, technicians and dedicated support staff. This role will just be based at Cleveland Veterinary Clinic.

Our clinics are well-equipped with digital general and dental X-ray, ultrasound, IDEXX in-house analysers and ezyVet. The Cleveland team includes a Practice Manager and a range of veterinary experience across a 2.5 FTE veterinary team. With the support of Lead Vets across our other two practices.

The caseload is varied, with a focus on preventative care, medical cases, dentistry, dental and general X-rays and routine surgery. More complex procedures are supported by an external specialist surgeon who operates in-house as required.

The Role

We’re seeking an experienced Veterinarian to join our team part-time or full-time, primarily based at our Cleveland clinic.

The roster is between 60–76 hours per fortnight, working 4 days per week, 8am–6pm, with an RDO and a rotating Saturday morning shift (1 in 3, 8am–1pm).

You’ll enjoy a varied caseload including preventative care, medical cases, dentistry and dental X-rays, general X-rays, desexing, lumpectomies and routine surgery, with complex surgery performed in-house by an external surgeon as required.

About You

You will bring:

• A Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) or equivalent qualification recognised in Australia
• 5+ years’ experience in small animal general practice (preferred)
• Strong all-round GP skills in medicine and surgery
• Ultrasound, orthopaedic, a commercial mindset and financial acumen would be desired but are not essential
• Experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity, supporting less experienced vets
• The ability to communicate and collaborate well with team members and build strong client relationships.
• A warm positive attitude, enthusiastic about building the clinic and a great team player are a must!
