Job summary

Tallinga Park in Victoria seeks an experienced Foreperson to manage daily stable operations, support staff, and ensure horses receive the highest standard of care, training and management aligned with racing standards.

You will oversee training schedules, trackwork and race-day preparations, monitor health and welfare, maintain accurate records, coordinate workloads and communicate effectively with management, staff and veterinarians.

Qualifications

• Experience working with thoroughbred racehorses.
• Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a racing stable.
• Strong horsemanship and understanding of horse behaviour and welfare.
• Ability to lead, motivate and work within a team.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Reliable, proactive attitude with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily stable operations and coordinate day-to-day stable activities.
• Supervise, lead and support stable staff.
• Monitor health, wellbeing, feeding and condition of horses.
• Assist with training schedules, trackwork and race-day prep.
• Ensure horses are handled safely and professionally at all times.
• Administer medications as directed by trainer or vet.
• Maintain high standards of stable presentation, cleanliness and welfare.
• Coordinate workloads and ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
• Communicate with management, staff and veterinarians.
• Maintain accurate records on horse care and stable operations.
• Ensure workplace health and safety procedures are followed.
