Job summary

Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) Brisbane is seeking a Principal Solicitor to lead complex enforcement matters and provide practical legal guidance on investigations, litigation, and enforcement action. You will identify critical issues, develop strategies, and advise senior decision-makers while collaborating with supervision and specialist teams across APRA.

Qualifications

Australian citizen with current Australian practising certificate.
Experience in regulatory investigations, enforcement, litigation or administrative law is preferred.
Exposure to banking, insurance, or financial services regulation is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Lead complex enforcement investigations from planning through to recommendation and outcome.
Advise on legal, evidentiary, litigation and regulatory risks.
Identify breaches, evidentiary gaps and key legal issues.
Develop case theories and enforcement or resolution strategies.
Prepare legal advice, notices and briefs for senior decision makers.
Lead interviews, examinations and other evidence-gathering activities.
Coordinate matter teams and oversee external lawyers and experts.
Explain and defend recommendations to senior stakeholders.
