United States Digital Space LLC in Cambridge, UK, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and drive Deltakit, our open-source platform for building and simulating QEC experiments. You will shape its direction, ensuring robustness, usability and scalability for a growing user community.

The role sits at the nexus of research and engineering, translating cutting-edge ideas into practical software while collaborating with researchers, engineers and the broader QEC community.

Qualifications

• Strong technical foundation in computer science, maths or physics.
• Experience designing and building high-quality scientific software, preferably in Python.
• Ability to translate research concepts into robust, scalable solutions.
• Broad understanding of software systems (compilers, OS, architecture).
• Experience shipping software to users with high engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead significant parts of the internal and external software stack for error-corrected quantum computing systems.
• Turn internal tools into external/public ones and own the full software lifecycle (design, development, testing, builds, releases).
• Mentor and lead engineers within the team.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate software/hardware artifacts with Deltakit.
• Engage with researchers and the user community to identify needs and respond accordingly.
• Contribute to open-source projects and lead the Deltakit community.
