Job summary

Hunter New England Local Health District invites applications for a Staff Specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at John Hunter Hospital. This is a 0.8 FTE part-time role within a tertiary referral service spanning multiple hospitals in the district.

The successful candidate will deliver inpatient, outpatient, telehealth and on-call services, collaborate with Trauma, Orthopaedics and General Surgery, contribute to teaching, training and research, and support quality improvement and

Qualifications

• FRACS in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery or eligibility through a recognised pathway.
• Eligibility for Specialist registration with AHPRA as a Plastic Surgeon.
• Demonstrated microsurgical training and DIEP flap breast reconstruction experience.
• Comprehensive contemporary experience in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery including hand trauma.
• Registrable medical degree in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient, outpatient, consultative and on-call Plastic and Reconstructive services.
• Deliver telehealth as part of a district-wide service delivery.
• Collaborate with Trauma, Orthopaedics, General Surgery and other specialties.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care and clinical decision making.
• Contribute to education, supervision, training and research initiatives.
