Job summary

Sedgman Onyx is seeking a Lead Piping & Water Engineer in Australia to lead piping systems design across non-process water infrastructure and mining projects. You will provide technical direction to piping teams, ensuring safe, rigorous and high-quality outcomes, with a strong hydraulic engineering foundation and WaterGEMS/EPANET expertise.

You will guide and mentor engineering staff, coordinate with other disciplines, and help advance design processes and client outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) is required.
15+ years in a design, consultancy or operational engineering role.
Strong piping and process design knowledge including non-process water networks.
Experience in mining/mineral processing environments.
Proficiency with hydraulic modelling tools (WaterGEMS/EPANET).
Experience with modelling packages such as FluidFlow.
Proven leadership of technical/project teams.
Solid understanding of project management principles and controls.

Responsibilities

Provide mechanical piping engineering leadership across multiple projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for integrated project delivery.
Review and monitor work of piping engineers, designers and drafters for technical competence.
Ensure design documentation meets client requirements.
Resolve design challenges and escalate as needed.
Update standard drawings and specifications to align with best practice.
Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to the team.
