Job summary

Protecht Group is seeking a Lead Mobile Developer to own and grow our React Native mobile app, a core part of our Enterprise Risk Management platform. You’ll lead a small team, collaborate with product/design, and drive architecture direction to deliver high-performing apps at scale.

The role combines hands-on development with leadership in a hybrid setup, offering mentorship, cross-functional collaboration, and opportunities to influence mobile delivery globally.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mobile development experience with React Native.
• Experience mentoring and training others.
• Experience with Expo and EAS services.
• Experience building offline-first mobile apps (Realm or equivalent).
• Experience with Redux, TanStack, Context API.
• Familiarity with iOS/Android native development and testing (Jest, Detox).
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in CS or IS.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Lead Mobile Developer who's excited to build and grow with us. You'll lead our Mobile Team and take ownership of our React Native mobile app, a key part of our Enterprise Risk Management platform that helps organisations manage risk with confidence.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll guide a team of three developers and work closely with product, design, and engineering to deliver elegant, high-performing apps. You'll also help shape our mobile architecture, coach your team, and guide how we bring new ideas to life.

What You'll Do

Lead an agile team to build, test, and ship scalable mobile apps in React Native (iOS + Android).

Write clean, secure, and well-documented code that sets the bar for quality.

Plan and track releases and sprints using Agile Scrum.

Partner with designers and product managers to create features users love.

Troubleshoot and optimise for performance and smooth user experience.

Lead by example: review code, share knowledge, and support and develop your team.

Guide our Mobile QA team to improve mobile automation test coverage.

Integrate with APIs and native modules, and contribute to architecture and technical design decisions.

Help shape how we deliver mobile at Protecht as we continue to scale globally.

What You'll Bring

5+ years of mobile development experience with React Native.

A passion for mentoring and training others.

Experience with Expo and EAS services.

Experience building offline-first mobile apps, ideally with Realm or a comparable embedded/sync database.

Experience with state management (Redux, TanStack, Context API).

Familiarity with iOS/Android native development and testing frameworks (Jest, Detox).

Excellent problem-solving skills, and a great communicator and collaborator.

A relevant tertiary qualification, such as computer science or information systems.

(Nice to have) Experience with AI-assisted development tools, Appium, mobile security hardening (e.g. certificate pinning), RTK Query, CI/CD pipelines for mobile, publishing to the App Store and Google Play, managing offshore teams, or WCAG accessibility standards.
