Job summary

Healthscope's Norwest Private Hospital in Sydney seeks a Clinical Midwife Educator and Clinical Midwife Specialist to advance maternity care through education and clinical leadership. You will mentor graduates, supervise student placements, and shape evidence-based practice within the Birth Unit and Postnatal Ward.

You will lead education programs, support staff development, and collaborate with the Education Team to drive quality improvement and policy development.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Midwife with AHPRA.
• 8+ years of clinical midwifery experience.
• ≥5 years in a Birth Unit setting.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or pursuing it.
• Experience teaching, coaching and supporting students and graduates.
• Strong preceptorship and mentoring skills.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver education programs.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver innovative education programs for midwives, graduates and students.
• Support orientation, onboarding and ongoing professional development of staff.
• Provide hands-on clinical teaching, mentoring and bedside support.
• Facilitate undergraduate and postgraduate midwifery student placements.
• Support competency assessment, learning plans and development pathways.
• Promote evidence-based practice and contemporary maternity care.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives and policy development.
• Monitor compliance with mandatory training requirements.
• Collaborate with the Education Team on hospital-wide programs.
