Job summary

Queensland Government department in Brisbane is seeking a Principal Spatial Analyst to lead geospatial and non-spatial data analysis that informs digital and data policy.

You will build GIS maps, dashboards and reports for decision-makers, mentor the team, and apply data governance across governance and quality controls. Role runs 11 November 2026 to 30 June 2027, 40 hours per week under PAYG hourly contract.

Qualifications

• Mentor and share technical skills with the team.
• Apply data governance and quality controls.
• Lead use of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online; SQL and Power BI integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead spatial analysis of telecommunications, infrastructure, land and population datasets to support regional planning and telecommunications co-investment.
• Scope and deliver mapping and data analysis requests, managing competing priorities.
• Collect, cleanse, link and analyse non-spatial data, applying appropriate statistical methods.
• Develop GIS maps and spatial products, dashboards and reports for decision-makers.
• Apply and improve data governance, documentation and quality controls.
• Lead the use of Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, using SQL and Power BI to integrate, query and visualise data.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and data custodians across government, local councils, infrastructure agencies and the telco industry.
• Prepare briefs, submissions, presentations and reports on complex and sensitive issues.
• Mentor and share technical skills with the team.
